Interesting Links for Writers

May 7, 2011

I hear about a lot of interesting articles and blogs because of the writer's organizations I'm a member of, and all of the writers email loops I'm on. Here are some of the ones I've heard about this week.

Are you checking out potential agents and editors? GalleyCat posted an article listing a lot of people you could be following on Twitter.

Agent Kristin Nelson has a great post you should be reading if you receive royalty statements (on anything, not just writing). Not paying close enough attention could be costing you money.

It's “How I Write” week at Nathan Bransford's blog (former agent turned author). He's talking about how he writes, how he edits, why he chose a traditional publisher for his children's books and more.

There's a nice post by a guest on Writer Unboxed about finally writing what she was terrified to write. Are you being honest in your writing?

Do you have more than one web site, or a web site and a Facebook fan page? Here is a quick and easy way to link one web site to another. I'll have to keep this in mind for later!

Haven't created your author web site yet? This post can help you plan and design it as well as give you ideas for promotion.

At the end of this interview with YA author Amanda Brice, she talks about self-publishing, why she did it, and how you can know if it's the right choice for you.

If you like listening to speeches and workshops, here are some that may be of interest to writers and other people in publishing. I haven't listened to any of them yet, and I don't know who Mike Shatzkin is except that I've seen his name mentioned in other author blogs. But they look interesting and I'm going to take a listen as soon as I have a minute.

And finally, just for the fun of it, I'm including the YouTube link to the first in a funny web series some friends of mine are making. I hope you enjoy Betty & DD as much as I do!
